We both had adoption in our hearts before we ever met. Matthew was fortunate to volunteer while in high school and college with an organization that helped children in Haiti. Heather always enjoyed working with children, from growing up babysitting to working with children with intellectual and physical disabilities. She had it in her mind that she was always going to adopt a couple of children to love and care for. We ultimately decided it was time to pursue adoption after we experienced the loss of our son.
We felt compelled to start our adoption journey early as we were praying and relying on our faith on what our next steps in life were to build our family. We let God lead our hearts and mind to discuss adoption and being able to provide a home to a baby that may otherwise not have a chance to grow up with a faith-based approach to life. Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, “declared the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This has led us to think about our Angel Gabriel as an additional guiding light in our lives. It has ultimately led us to the path of God starting our adoption journey to give hope and guidance to other families and little joys that may join our family soon. We are excited to be able to turn our hurt into a positive and be able to use God’s word to look forward to the future and see what HE has in store for us!
Our goal is to raise money to go towards our adoption fund which will pay the agency fees, expectant mother living assistance, birthmother attorney, attorney and court costs for termination of parental rights and finalization fees, child’s birth certificate, Inter compact placement contract, and post-placement fees.
We believe the most important part to impart to our children is that they are loved. When a child is shown and told they are loved, by God, and their family, this helps them grow through faith, and have the hope to learn about HIM. The child will be able to continue through life knowing they will always have someone who loves them and looks out for them during their journey through life.
We have been awarded a $3,000 matching grant from Lifesong for Orphans Adoption Fund! Anything you donate will be matched from this gracious organization! Your generous support will assist us with the adoption finances of the agency and attorney fees we will occur along the way once we are matched. Thank you for considering us as a family to donate the grant money to in honor of our Lord.
