Adoption was always a “some day” for us, but in March 2023, we took a leap of faith and started the process! Once we started researching countries we could adopt from, India, a country with an estimated 30 million orphaned children, most of whom never even make it to an orphanage, tugged at our hearts. Many of these children have at least some level of special needs and because of cultural and economic pressures, a staggering 9 out of 10 abandoned children in India are girls.
We were matched with our daughter Kusuma in November 2023 and got to travel to India and bring her home in April 2024! She has been such a light in our lives and it’s been absolutely amazing to see the progress that she has made in such a short amount of time being in our family and how much of a difference a loving family can make for a child.
After only being home for a few short months, God put a second adoption on our hearts, so we are currently in the process of adopting another baby girl from India!
Those that followed us throughout the 1st adoption may remember how many expenses there are with adoptions and this second time around is no different, unfortunately. Much of the costs need to be paid long before we match with a specific child, which is why we are starting to raise funds now. Overall, our adoption will cost around $45-50k total with home study & agency fees, travel costs, etc.
Because of an incredibly generous offer from Lifesong for Orphans & Gregory's Gift, we have the opportunity of a $7,500 matching grant! This means for every dollar raised, it is matched up to $7,500, which gets us $15,000 (!!!!) closer to our financial goal! We are so grateful for this opportunity!
