Leonard’s 2nd India Adoption

Hello! We are Andrew, Kylee, Piper (8), Norah(6), and Micah Leonard(4). We are in the middle of our second adoption from India. In 2021 we brought home our son Micah from Madhya Pradesh, India at age 2. We got to experience first hand God’s faithfulness to us in a 2.5 year adoption process during the COVID pandemic. When there was set back after setback the Lord was working. Working to bring Micah home and working in our hearts to surrender our timing, our desires, and our fears to Him. The truth was, we had no control over government processes and approvals. We had no power to stop a pandemic. There was nothing we could do. And that brought us to our knees in true humble submission to the God who was powerful enough to bring Micah home. The God who heard our crys for help. The God who could be in India with our baby boy when we could not. The God who is not limited by space, time, geography, and sleep. “Is there anything too hard for me? (Jeremiah 32:27)” was the echoing refrain from scripture in our minds. “Nothing Lord!” was the growing answer of our hearts.

Coming home with Micah brought new joys and new challenges as we walked a new road of helping Micah function in our family. In these fresh weeks and months home there was a new gospel message to learn. Adoption means taking on the pain of another in order to love them. We had never experienced this level of sacrificial love before, and the Lord was schooling us in it. “Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows (Isaiah 53:4),” reached new depths of understanding for us. Jesus bore our griefs and sorrows and now He was graciously bringing us along in this type of gospel love. We would never be the same.

In January of 2023 we began to pray about starting a second adoption. Even though I (Kylee) had seen God’s faithfulness and experienced his provision I was still afraid. After 3 months of prayer it was evidently clear that this was the road the Lord had for us to walk. And He would give us the grace we needed. “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).

We have recently been matched with a 10 month old baby boy in India and hope to bring him home by the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025. The total cost of international adoption is around $42,000 from start to finish.

We have been awarded $7,000 in matching grants from Lifesong for Orphans and from Kari’s Adoption Fund. Would you consider giving financially to our adoption? Your donations will be matched up to $7,000 by these generous grants.
