Leisey Family Adoption Journey

Chris and Lindsay Leisey Annville, Pennsylvania

We began our adoption journey in the Fall of 2014, when our biological daughter, Grace, was one and we both felt that God had placed a desire on our hearts to grow our family through adoption. We began the process of adopting a little boy from Haiti, and in May of 2016, we finally had a dossier in-country and ready for a match. Adoptions in Haiti have been slow-going over the last 5+ years, but we were committed to the process and waiting to see what God had in store for us.

Little did we know that our plans for a little boy from Haiti would include our beautiful baby girl, Emma!

On Christmas Eve of last year (2018), we found out about a situation with a local mom that felt it was best to place the baby she was expecting at the end of January with a family for adoption. The next 3 weeks were a whirlwind as we got a homestudy approved and made the preparations we needed in order to be ready. We are so blessed and grateful that God allowed us to have this part in His plan for our precious Emma. Less than a month later, and a day after our homestudy was approved, Emma was born and we were with her in the hospital! We hope to finalize her adoption sometime late this summer, as we continue to wait on a referral for our son from Haiti!

The costs associated with adoption were a real concern for us when we started with our Haiti adoption…good thing we didn’t know everything God had in store for us then!  God has been so faithful in providing for us along this journey, and we are so grateful for the support of our family and friends who have come alongside us.

We’ve talked to so many people over the last 4 years who shared an interest in adoption…most of whom shared a common concern…money! We’re here to tell you that where God leads, He will provide! There are many resources out there to help with the financial burden, and Lifesong is one of the best! We’re grateful for our church family at Lebanon Valley Bible Church also. They recently started an adoption ministry, Keziah's Hope, to help support adoptive families. We've been awarded a $3,000 matching grant through their adoption fund, which is administered by Lifesong. Any donations that come in through this site will be matched up to $3,000.

If you’re thinking about adoption but holding back because of the expense, hopefully our words have been an encouragement to take the first steps and see what God has in store for you!

Thanks for your interest in our story! If you’d like to make a donation in support of our adoptions, we will be so very grateful! If you’ve already supported us in one way or another, THANK YOU!
