For years Gladys and I talked about adoption and our desire to love a child that might otherwise never know love. We have 4 homegrown boys, yet our family has felt incomplete for a while. Our children have been longing for us to adopt a baby girl, a little girl that will bring beauty and laughter into this house full of boys. We feel honored to love and be mom & dad to whichever child we are chosen to be parents for! Also, we have many friends that have adopted a child internationally and domestically both from foster care and infant adoption. They certainly played a role in our lives as well through the years as we watched them grow their families.
In 2010 our family lost a child unexpectedly and so we felt like foster to adopt was very uncertain and risky for our family and not a good option for us because we did not want to risk losing someone again… We took time to learn more about domestic infant adoption and felt lead to pursue this option in June 2017. We spent many months fundraising to be able to work with Faithful Adoption Consultants and do our home study. We paid $5,500 to those two services in May 2018 (Consultant Agency) and February 2019 (Home Study)! All with money we worked to fundraise in that first year of our process… Our consultant agency started presenting us to moms in May 2019. We have continued to fundraise since May 2019 consistently as the cost can be around $40,000.00-$45,000.00. We are adopting through agencies that takes moms in pregnancy crises that are just not in a place where they can handle raising a child (but have chosen to give their baby life and a loving home) and they match them with families like ours.
The cost for such an endeavor is overwhelming. With legal fees, medical care, agency fees, etc. the costs skyrocket. But that does not take away from the fact that a little girl might not ever know the love of a family or even worse be raised in an environment that will just perpetuate bad cycles. We cannot do this alone. It truly takes a village to care for orphans and we are asking you to partner with us and help us raise the funds we need to make this happen. Through a generous matching grant with Orphan Care Alliance they have offered a $4,000.00 matching grant. That means for every dollar we raise up to $4,000.00 we will get a dollar for dollar match. So whatever you can donate will double. That is an incredible gift and we hope you can partner with us and Orphan Care Alliance to help us raise a total of $8,000.00. This fundraiser will last until November 30th 2019. If you desire to partner with us we will be forever grateful.
