Kuhner Adoption: The Sequel!

Michelle Kuhner
Michelle Kuhner MENDON, New York

We are so pleased to announce to family and friends that we will be welcoming another baby boy into our family through adoption! We are speedily getting ready, as ‘Baby Boy Kuhner’ is due on October 16th (but may come any day now) – we couldn’t be more thrilled!

Many of you know our story, but for those who don’t, here is a little window into how we found ourselves on this beautiful path to adoption. We have been struggling with primary and/or secondary infertility for 10 years of our marriage. Michelle, facing some significant fertility challenges (including stage IV endometriosis), has undergone 3 surgeries and countless diets and medical interventions with the hope of conceiving. Throughout this time, we felt strongly that even though natural conception was not happening for us, God still had a plan to build our family. After much prayer we decided in 2017 to pursue our first adoption, leading two years later to the addition of John Benedict Kuhner into our family, who is the absolute joy of our hearts! In 2021, we began the process once again of becoming a waiting family and opening our hearts and home to another baby. Over the past 20 months our family has been considered for 8 different adoption cases, but none of them seemed to be God’s will for us. We hung in there through the ups and downs, knowing that God’s plan is always worth waiting for.  Last week we received an email letting us know that there was a very brave, young (20 year old) mom who fell in love with our profile and knew right away that we were the family meant to receive her baby boy. With less than three weeks notice, we are simply ecstatic to welcome another little boy into our family through adoption, and to grow the Kuhner family by one more!

We are writing to ask for your support during this extremely exciting yet emotionally taxing time as we navigate all of the ins and outs of adoption. First, and most importantly, we just ask you to keep our family and the birth mother in your prayers. God has a plan, and we could use your prayers to give us the strength to navigate everything with grace!

Secondly, if you are able to support us financially in any way, we would be so grateful. Our adoption expenses are estimated to exceed $45,000.  We are very grateful to have been awarded a matching grant in the amount of $6,000 from Gregory’s Gift through Lifesong for Orphans, which means every dollar that is donated – up to $6,000 – will be matched 100%. Donations in any amount are tax-deductible. We are so humbled and grateful for your support, your love, and your prayers during this exciting time. From the bottom of our hearts – thank you!
