Hi everyone! We are the Kirkland family: Clay and Lauren, and our two boys, who are eight and six years old. They became part of our family through the domestic adoption process when they were infants. They are tender, inquisitive, bright, stubborn and rambunctious, and we couldn’t love them more! We talked about adopting a child when we were dating and newly married, but we thought we would have biological children as well. It turned out that God’s plan for us had always been adoption, and our passion has grown through the privilege and responsibility of raising our boys. These last few years have not been without challenges, and we thought that our family was complete with our sons. Much to our surprise, however, the Lord laid it on our hearts again to begin the adoption process last year! He has been leading us along this journey, and so we are seeking to follow in faith and trust. We know that we would love another little person with our whole hearts, but we also know (from experience!) that we can’t do this alone.
We are seeking to adopt domestically, through Lifeline Children’s services. We are thankful to have been awarded a $4000 matching grant from Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church Adoption Fund, administered by Lifesong for Orphans. At this point, we are required to pay $4600 when we turn in our profile, which is the book about our family that the birth mothers view. If a birth mother chooses us, we are required to pay $4600 when we are matched. When the baby is placed with us, the remainder of the fees are due, totaling $16,000. We do not know what the time frame will be, since it really depends on when we are selected by a birth mother. We know that God will make His will clear, as he has twice before with our boys.
We know that we are called to adopt, but we need help. Will you guys help us by sharing our story, praying and giving, if you can? We can’t wait to see God write this part of His story in our lives! Thank you!
