Our Party of 5 is excited to become the Pugh 6 Pack as we pursue our daughter in China. Gwendolyn has waited for over 6 years for a family and we’re blessed to welcome her into our ours!
When our son Lachlan was born with cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy in 2011, we couldn’t have imagined the joy that would evolve through that journey. Our experiences with Lachlan led us to pursue the adoption of a child with disabilities in 2016. Conlan, our sweet, incredible son from China, and Lachlan were two peas in a pod from the start! Then, in 2017, we had a surprise pregnancy with our son, Flintlan and experienced parenting a healthy, typical child for the first time. He’s brought such laughter and light to our family.
The profound gift that God has given us in our journey is that we no longer idealize a simple, straight-forward path to building a family; rather, we firmly believe God has designed us to live counter to the comfort the world seeks, to live purposefully in contrast to the customary expectations of how to establish a family. Nathan and I agree that God gave us these life experiences which birthed in us a capacity, confidence, desire and JOY to parent another child with special needs. We’re excited that this is the story God is writing!
Gwen shares a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy with Lachlan and a Chinese heritage with Conlan. She’ll know deep love from our family and will receive the medical care and educational opportunities she deserves. Will you please pray for our journey and for our daughter’s heart and health as she waits? We know our God hears our prayers and is faithful to meet us.
We would also appreciate prayers for financial provision over our adoption expenses which will be around $35,000. We’re grateful to Lifesong for Orphans and the Tim Tebow Foundation for a matching grant of $5,000! Gifts will be matched dollar for dollar up to $5,000 and will help offset costs including our Home Study, our Agency fees, Immigration, travel and more.
