Journey to Milo

Angela Miller CHILLICOTHE, Illinois

James 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

This verse has been very influential in our lives over the past fifteen years.  God led us to grow our family through adoption, so in 2005, we brought home our first daughter, Laura, from China.  Charlie came home from Taiwan in 2006, followed by Amarin, who was born in Thailand, in 2009.  Finally, Jenna joined our family in 2011 from China.  At that point, our "van was full," and quite frankly, so was our time and endurance.

Since then, we have continued caring for orphans by volunteering for the Baobei Foundation in Shanghai.  They provide life-saving surgeries for critically-ill orphans.  Jamie is known there as “the suitcase man” for the multiple suitcases he has delivered full of medicines, orthotics, and various supplies.  Angie took on the role of managing the U.S. finances.  She has been able to take both Jacob and Jenna to Shanghai to visit with the directors, care givers, and babies.

Last summer, God moved us to pursue another adoption…and buy a bigger van.  This van holds twelve passengers! We are matched with a little boy who will be three years old in April, and who is currently living in an orphanage in China.  His name will be Milo after Angie’s paternal grandpa.  We are all very excited to bring him home, Lord willing, this spring.

Our family feels passionately that God calls all Christians to care for orphans. We are inviting you to join us financially to help bring Milo home.  International adoptions can range from $25-$50,000, so any gift you could provide would be greatly appreciated.  In addition, we would ask for prayers for Milo’s health and transition, our travels, and our family as we adjust to a new normal.  Thank you for being a part of Milo’s story.

**All donations will be made directly to Lifesong, who in turn will reimburse us for appropriate adoption expenses.  All donations are tax deductible.
