Our journey to adopt from South Korea

Jon & Kate Lilley
Jon & Kate Lilley Mayfield Heights, Ohio

As long as we can remember, Jon and I have wanted to be parents and to have a big family. Early on in our relationship we talked about adoption being part of the way our family would be built. The picture of God as a loving father who adopts us into his family and grafts us together into one vine, despite our differences and different backgrounds, deeply resonated in our hearts.

Early on in our marriage, we realized that it would be difficult to have children. As we struggled with infertility, we prayed asking God to give us children and asking for his help to know what to do if we couldn’t. Through those times of prayer and discussion as a couple, we began to realize that God planned adoption to be part of our story.

God eventually answered our prayers and gave us our son, Noah, but as we began to consider if we would have a second child or if it would even be possible, God reminded us of adoption. In Ephesians 1:4-5, Paul states, “4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.” Through adoption, we will be able to reflect the great love of God and what he has done for us through Jesus.

We have completed our homestudy and are waiting to be matched with our next child.  Lifesong for Orphans has generously granted us a $4,000 matching grant and we would be grateful for your help in fulfilling it.  Lifesong will match your donation dollar for dollar up to $4000.  No donation is too small, and every donation is appreciated.

Thank you for your love, prayer, and support!
