The Johnson Family Adoption Journey

Dustin Johnson MILNER, Georgia

My wife (Cathy) and I have been trying to conceive for the past 3 years. We have an amazing 4-year-old son, who is healthy and strong, praise God, so we had no reason to suspect there would be any issue with conceiving again.

Over the last 3 years, we have had 6 miscarriages. Those that know, once you have 2 or 3, back to back, the chances of carrying to term drops dramatically. It was a tough period for Cathy and me, making peace with the fact that we would not be able to have our own child and add to our family.

Once we worked through the despair of it all, we felt God tell us that we mustn't give up hope. That there is a child out there in need of a loving home, one that we could provide.

Being relatively new to the U.S.A, moving here from South Africa 4 years ago, we were not aware of the tremendous cost involved with adoption. We have managed to save and have run several fundraisers with the help of our amazing friends and family here in the States.

We still have a way to go but thank God every day that we are on this journey because it means that at the end of it all, a baby will have a home that they truly need. One that loves them, that will raise them with good morals and values, and one that will be there every day of their lives.
