Proverbs 16:9 “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”
Since the very beginning of our marriage, we have always hoped to adopt someday. Like many couples, we had our own plans and ideas of how our family would grow biologically and thought we would adopt later. We had no idea the path God had ordained for us: to experience the disappointments of infertility, the joys of clinging to our sufficient Lord, and ultimately, surrendering our plans to His. Last year, we decided not to pursue further fertility treatment and began our pursuit of adoption. Although we do not know exactly what the future holds, we are grateful and hopeful that we have the opportunity for God to grow our family through adoption sooner rather than later.
Our desire to adopt is twofold. We recognize there may be opportunity for us to serve and display the gospel to an expectant family considering adoption, to honor them and their decisions, and to show up for them when they are making perhaps the most difficult decision of their lives. We also see the beauty of adoption, as it reflects our own spiritual adoption as children of God through Jesus’ death. We desire to nurture and raise our children to know the Lord and experience the faithfulness of God throughout their own journeys. We trust in the Sovereignty of God and believe that He will be glorified as our adoption journey unfolds.
Currently, we are home-study approved for Domestic Infant Adoption! We are working with an outstanding adoption consultant and we are applying for multiple adoption agencies throughout the U.S. to have a greater reach for any opportunities the Lord may lead us to.
Would you pray with us?
-Pray for expectant moms who are considering adoption for their babies. Pray they will find the support they need to parent, if it is safe and possible to do so. If it’s not, pray that God would give them peace, guidance, and support to navigate their adoption journey. Either way, they are giving their child the gift of LIFE, and for that we are so grateful.
-Pray for adoption professionals who are counseling and providing support to pregnant moms in difficult circumstances.
-Pray for us to have discernment in the decisions we will face, grace to love expectant families as Christ does, and trust in God along the journey.
-Pray for our future children, fearfully and wonderfully made by God for a purpose and time that only He knows.
Would you like to support us financially?
Adoption is expensive and the cost is variable depending on each situation. Our adoption fees will range between $42,000-$60,000. This wide range is due to varying services provided by different agencies and costs associated with different states. This amount covers agency fees, consultant fees, expectant mom living/medical expenses, ongoing counseling and post-placement support for birth families, legal fees, and travel for out-of-state adoption. We trust God will provide financially and we are so grateful to our family and friends who have expressed desire to support us in this way.
We have chosen to partner with Lifesong for Orphans to fundraise $40,000 for our adoption. We have received a very generous $4,000 matching grant from Murray Family Fund, administered by Lifesong for Orphans. With this grant, the first $4,000 raised will be matched dollar-for-dollar. We are so thankful for this gift from the Murray Family.
