Taylor has loved children from a very young age. She has found something so sweet in watching children grow and develop. Each day Taylor gets to work as a preschool teacher to some pretty incredible, fun, and rowdy one-year-olds. She has desired to adopt and care for children since she can remember and is ready to love on her children however they may come. Over the past ten years, God has continued to grow her heart towards loving “the least of these.”
Tanner has a deep love for children and has felt called to be a dad for a long time. Every day, he invests in his high school students, partnering with Christian parents to disciple their children. He has received almost no greater joy than getting to affirm God’s gifts and calling in a student’s life. Adoption was a natural part of his home through his mom’s role in caring for a couple of internationally adopted girls while he was growing up. Through Taylor’s compassion toward the orphan and God’s compassion toward him, God has filled Tanner’s heart with a love for “the least of these.”
Our church family has allowed Taylor to work on the adoption and foster ministry team, Journey One 27, for the past two years where her desires have been refined through supporting other adoptive families. This ministry has been a major blessing in helping educate and help adoptive/foster families who are yearning to love their families well. Which has allowed for us to be surrounded by likeminded individuals who can help us navigate the ins and outs of adoption/fostering.
When we got married, adoption was a part of our discussion. However, we never knew when God would prompt the both of us to jump into adoption. It seems that God has given us the support and community to help us adopt and parent well. We hope to be faithful in loving the most vulnerable through adoption.
We know that God calls every one of us to care for the most vulnerable in our society. One way that we respond to that call of caring for the most vulnerable is through adoption. We have an amazing adoptive community in our church that has been honest about the reality of adoption. It is a messy and difficult road, but it is remedied by God’s people stepping up and sharing the love of Christ, specifically through adoption! Isn’t that what Christ did for us? Jesus Christ stepped into our broken mess and loved us so much that he laid down his life for you and for me. Because Christ died in our place, we may be adopted into God’s family. What a beautiful picture of love and sacrifice! We hope to reflect Christ love through adopting and raise our child to know and follow Jesus. We are learning to trust God in His call on our lives through adoption.
Throughout this journey God has shown His presence through people, “God moments,” and abundant peace in this calling. We are so grateful to LifeSong for partnering with us and Forever Adoption and Highview Baptist Church for their generous matching grants. Every dollar we receive from generous donors goes directly toward adoption expenses. We fulfilled those matching grants through our previous fundraiser and generous donors! Thank you for being apart of our adoption journey, whether in prayer or in giving. Our community has truly been an immense blessing!
