Hi Friends and Family, Welcome to our Adoption Page!
We know some of you already know parts of our story from social media postings, conversations, and texts/phone calls but we would love to share it from the beginning. We have been together since high school (going on 16 years!) and have had our fair share of ups and downs. We’ve always talked about adoption as a way to build our family, even before we were married in 2014.
About 2 years ago we found our amazing church, Traders Point Christian Church in Indianapolis, and around that time God started to give little nudges to us about adoption. We knew we wanted to grow our family (in addition to our little pup, Javy. We started researching and wanted to do an international adoption, specifically from Latin America since Tony is Hispanic and we love the culture/traditions that side of the family brings into our lives. We found an agency and knew it was the right fit (All God’s Children International we love you!) and Colombia was their only Latin American country, so we knew it was meant to be!
The fees for adoption in general are very high and international costs add up so quickly. Our original thought was we would save money for the rest of 2018 then maybe sign our application at the beginning of 2019. Well, God had other plans…Amy’s grandma passed away in April 2018 unexpectedly and we found ourselves diving deeper into our faith. We then found out, she left a check for each of her grandchildren for close to the same amount the initial fees were for the adoption (God works in amazing ways!) Our hearts opened and we knew it was yet another nudge and…we officially signed our contract in June 2018 to adopt a child, boy or girl, 0-4 years old from Colombia!!
Most people may not know the wait can be long and many unknowns are ahead for us, but we have our strong faith in God and amazing people surrounding us and lifting us up on a daily basis (we are so grateful for you!). The power of prayer has become such a real incredible part of our lives.are open to some special needs for our child and those unknown costs can be scary. We also would love to be able to take an entire suitcase of goods and toys for the children in the orphanage when we get to Colombia. Our timeline right now is unknown and we are officially on the waiting list!!
Our goal is to raise $ 2,640. Why the odd number? This is how many miles away our future child is living from us (Indianapolis to Colombia). So we are trying to raise $1 for each mile that we will have to travel to pick up our little one to unite them with their forever home (in our arms!) Our generous church, Traders Point, will be matching up to $3,000 (Thank you TPCC!)
We cannot thank you all enough for taking time to read our story and for your support during our journey!!
