Help Us Bring Yuan Yi Home!

In case you haven’t heard..we are adopting from China!!

We are Keith and Lori and we are thankful and blessed to be able to share a part of our story with you!  We have been blessed with a wonderful life, full of family, friends, love, opportunity and excitement. Together, we have five biological children who are all now adults and live outside of the home. We are expecting our first grandson in August.

We have a close and loving relationship with each of our children and their families. We do not plan to have any addition biological children but are desiring to expand our family through adoption. We are an active family, enjoying many activities together, from an occasional family game night to camping and exploring the outdoors. Spending time exploring, laughing and growing together is one of our highest priorities for our family

We have had a heart to adopt for many years. We have walked down the road toward adoption several different times but each step seemed to lead us in a new direction. Each experience prepared us for what God had planned for us all along and has given us a new awareness of the need for adoptive families for children who have been orphaned as well as a growing desire for us to pursue adoption.

On July 4th, 2017 we saw the profile for a 7 year old boy from Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, China. He had truly been abandoned and orphaned at 2 days old as he had been born with Spina Bifida and a Club Foot. We were overcome with compassion for this child and his birth mother. We believe she loved him so much she gave him up so he could receive the care he needed to not only live but to have opportunity that she was possibly not able to provide him. We may never know her story but we are thankful she chose life for this little baby boy.

We called the agency the next day and things have been moving forward ever since. We have encountered many blessings, trials, and timeline disappointments along the way but we know that this is only a small part of a bigger picture and throughout this whole adoption process we have had hope and peace as we seek to bring Yuan Yi home.

We have grown to love this child who we believe the Lord brought to our attention on that day in July. This little boy turned 8 years old in March of this year and he has the sweetest smile. From an updated photo we see he now has a few permanent teeth coming in. We can’t wait to have him home, to be a family and share in the many more milestones of his life.

We are waiting for the phone call telling us its time..book your flight. In July or August of this year we will be flying to Beijing to finalize our adoption of our soon to be son who does not speak English! Here we are in our early (very early) 50’s learning mandarin and I will say even though things are moving forward and it appears we are flying to Beijing, we still both say “Lord willing” we are adopting Yuan Yi. One year ago we would never have been able to foresee this. The English translation of Yuan Yi’s name is “to be willing” : )

As you may already know adoption is costly and can be a financial burden that prevents many families from adopting. God has provided and will continue to provide in ways we cannot imagine. We are still in need of covering a portion of the nearly $37,000 that will help get us to China and finalize the adoption.

Lifesong, in partnership with Calvary Chapel SE, believe God has called us to adoption. They have committed an Adoption Matching Grant of $3,600.

We would love for you to partner with us to meet this challenge. Whether you are able to give of your finances, your time in prayer, or both, please prayerfully consider how you can help us bring Yuan Yi home.

Yuan Yi Gets a Party :)

May 17, 2018

Greetings friends,

This week Yuan Yi found out that he is being adopted. The feelings are bittersweet for us. On one hand we are so excited about the opportunity that lies ahead for him and us as we welcome him into the family. On the other we are sadened by the loss he will experience leaving everything he has know for his 8 little years.

He received a cake, a small toy, a couple outfits (a bit too small I might say) and a letter and photo album of his new family and home. We were able to get a short video and a few photos of the party they had for him.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support for us and him during this lengthy and somewhat challenging process.

Please continue to pray that the time frame will remain constant and that our travel plans in late July will go well. Also, pray that he will able to rest and process all the new things that await him as he prepares to head to a foreign land, eat foreign food, and live with complete strangers…

Thank you and blessings,

Keith

ps. when we can we will share a couple of photos 🙂
