Help us bring Josiah and Judah home from China!

Elizabeth Messer

We began to want to grow our family again sometime last year, and after seeing the need in China, we decided to adopt from China. In February we were matched with An Ying Hang, 26 months, (Josiah David) who has microtia and atresia of both ears. This means his ears are malformed and he will need hearing aids and eventual reconstruction. My Dad is an audiologist, we have great medical coverage, and it just seemed like God’s grace that we would be matched with this sweet little boy! We fell in love and are so humbled and excited.

Then a month later we got a surprising phone call and after much prayer and a big leap of faith, we were matched with Zheng Zi Rui (Judah Lane). How???!! Well, in God’s good providence we checked a small box on our Home Study forms saying we were open to bringing home two children (just in case we were matched with twins). Judah is a healthy, 2 and a half year old with polydactyly (an extra thumb that we will have repaired when he is home). Both boys are from the Henan province, and we will travel to bring them home in early August, God willing!

Our family will be growing from 4 to 6 in just a few short months, and we are trusting God to provide financially, emotionally and spiritually and with His strength. Please pray for us, and if you would like to help us bring our boys home, we would be very grateful! We have been saving for a few years, but in having faith to say ‘Yes’ to Judah as well as Josiah, we took a big step of faith that God would provide! We were financially prepared for one child, but not for two, and yet we know the Lord is leading and has already provided lots of clothes, another highchair, a car seat and a crib mattress. It has been so neat to see the Lord move and take care of orphans through you! considering travel, orphanage fees (about $5,200 for each boy), hotel, visas and our agencies fees we are still short about $15,000.

Lifesong is offering us a matching grant, and will match any donations up to $3,000, as well an opporunity for a tax benefit for donations over $50. Donations can be mailed directly to Lifesong or can be processed online for a 3% fee.

We know He is faithful! Perhaps you are not called to adopt, but we are all called to take care of orphans and widows, and here is a wonderful opportunity to bless these two boys, and us as a family!

Thank you for loving our family!
