Help us bring home our girls!

Linda Baker
Linda Baker Neoga, Illinois

After returning from a mission trip to Belize last summer, we felt God calling us to adopt.  We served at a children’s home and met some amazing kids there, including four sisters that we quickly fell in love with.  After mentioning the idea of adoption to each other, Alan went for a walk outside, saying to himself, “I don’t know how we could afford them; I don’t want to start over again.”  Then he felt a voice say to him, “That’s an awful lot of ‘I’s’; this really isn’t about you.”  He came back in the house and said, “I have a deal for you, let’s bring them all home!”

Before we went on the trip, I had been praying that God would go before us, beside us, and behind us.  Little did I know that this was what God going behind us would like!  We did not anticipate God leading us to adopt at our age.  However, we couldn’t be more excited about having these four sweet girls become our daughters.  What better way to use two empty bedrooms than to fill them up with precious children!  The closets are filling up with clothes.  Toys that we thought we were saving for grandchildren have been made ready for the girls to play with.  Their pictures already hang in our home.  And we already love them with all our heart!

One of the biggest challenges is finding the finances to make this happen.  The estimated cost for the adoption is $49,000, but we know that God is faithful and will provide.  We have found the whole adoption process to be very humbling, and asking for financial help is not an easy thing for us to do.  We would much rather be on the giving end than the receiving end.

We are incredibly blessed that East White Oak Church has partnered with Lifesong for Orphans and committed an Adoption Matching Grant of $3,000 to help pay our adoption expenses.  Will you please consider making a tax-deductible donation to help us meet this matching grant?

Please pray for our family throughout the adoption process.  We can’t wait to share pictures with you once the girls are home with us!  May God receive all the glory as we seek to follow His call.
