The Haupts: Bringing Home Our Littlest One

Our story, our story, our story…

It’s a little hard to explain a story that has run deeply through many years, on many levels. Adoption has basically been on our radar from the beginning, and to be at the point where this long-lived dream is starting to become a reality is humbling, awe-inspiring, slightly overwhelming, and incredibly beautiful.

We’ve come to the realization that God very much plans the family. An obvious statement, perhaps, but its truth rings loudly after years of building a family, of things not going according to our plans, of tear-filled prayers being asked, and asked, and asked, and so sovereignly answered, of expectations being blown thoroughly to pieces, of realizing that we-have-no-idea-what-we’re-doing is a pretty common place to be. Our firstborn – the first precious life handed to us to steward, and the one who taught us how little we actually knew. Our second-born – the one we spent two years trying for, praying for, longing for, crying for, waiting for in a struggle deeper than any we’d known, and rejoicing when he was given to us in a jubilation that was that much greater and more humbling for the struggle. Our third-born – the unexpected gift…God’s incredibly gracious answer to many fears, many wonders, many hopes. And now we wait for the fourth – a child born not of our genetics, but of a calling and an ushering of Almighty God. A call that, to put it simply, we just flat-out know is there. This is part of our story. Part of our race to run, our journey to walk, our life’s work. Our daughter waits somewhere unknowing, we wait partially knowing, and God moves all-knowing.

So here we are.

We need your prayers, your excitement, and your words of encouragement as we work through masses of paperwork, unknown timelines, and adjustments and challenges on all sides. This part of our story is just beginning, and we are absolutely positive that there is much we don’t know. 🙂 We currently need a rather large chunk of money. We’re officially in process to adopt from China, and the total cost including paperwork, visas, home study, travel, and all the details involved is going to be roughly $40,000. God has already provided several thousand we’ve been able to use from our own funds, and we’re super thankful that He’s also given us a $3500 matching grant through Lifesong for Orphans.  All gifts of any size are incredibly and eternally appreciated!

We love you all! Thank you so much for being with us on this and for the support that many of you have already voiced. We wait expectantly for the Lord’s gracious provision and for this daughter to be placed into our family.

All glory to the One who has known it all from the beginning.

By His grace,

The Haupts
