We are the Hastings family, and we are so excited to bring our son, Tobiah, home from South Korea soon. We were matched at the end of September 2020 and could be traveling as soon as February 2021. Our son, Tobiah, will turn one in January and we feel blessed that this is the only birthday we will miss. We have two children, Elias and Lily Rae, that have fallen in love with our son along with us.
Stoya was a missionary kid in the Philippines during her formative years. She saw children living in true poverty, and that planted the seeds of international adoption. Dustin had God working on his heart later in life to prepare him for a future adoption. We are both confident in God’s calling for us to bring our third child home from South Korea. This country was chosen after much prayer and research with different programs.
Dustin and Stoya married in 2010 and live in Murray, KY. Dustin is a retail manager in sporting goods and Stoya is an art teacher at an elementary school. Elias joined the team in 2013 and Lily Rae followed in 2016. Both of our children have brought a lot of laughter, joy, and the best kind of chaos into our lives.
We started our adoption journey early in 2018 and have felt God’s presence throughout the process. While the wait has been a challenge, being matched with our sweet boy has made it all worth it. We have lots of pictures and short videos of our Tobiah that our children watch nightly as they prepare for what life will be like with a baby brother. Their enthusiasm and love for our son reinforces our faith that this is God’s plan for our family.
We have been so blessed by our community throughout this journey. The old saying, “it takes a village to raise a child,” has never made more sense. We have done local fundraisers and have been humbled by the response. We are now blessed beyond belief to have a matching grant with Hope that Binds. This means the first $5,000 raised will be matched. All of these funds will go directly towards our adoption journey.
2020 has been a wild year with lots of obstacles. With all of the necessary restrictions, our anticipated two trips (one week each) have turned into one seven-week trip. This has added to our costs greatly. We are blessed to have understanding jobs that will allow us to take this time, however, some of it will be unpaid. We have seen God’s faithfullness in our finances throughout this process, and have faith that He will guide us to meet our needs.
We are so grateful that you are considering donating to our fund. We ask that you will also pray for our family on both sides of the world. This journey will cost a lot monetarily, but it will also take an emotional toll on all of us. Thank you so much for joining us on this journey to bring our Tobiah home.
