Hannah Adoption Story

Chelsea Hannah
Chelsea Hannah Pelahatchie, Mississippi

We are Brandon and Chelsea. Adoption was something that has always been in my (Chelsea’s) heart even as a teen. I always had hopes that one day I would be able to adopt a baby. Brandon and I talked about adoption before we were ever married. We always knew that we wanted adoption to be a part of our story.

During my pregnancy with our little boy, Cooper, I developed what I would several months later come to find out was oral cancer. After surgery, chemo, and radiation—the doctors told me that there was really no explanation for the cancer other than pregnancy hormones. Although this would not necessarily keep me from being able to become pregnant, there would always be a possibility of the cancer reoccurring if I were to.

Around the same time that we began walking my cancer journey, our church had a special focus one Sunday on adoption. It was the Lord’s perfect timing to remind me of the desire that had always been planted in my heart for adoption. We knew that was what the Lord wanted us to do.

Earlier this year, we felt a really strong calling to begin looking into expanding our family again through adoption. We are so overwhelmed with joy about the opportunity to add another precious blessing into our lives through adoption.

We have had friends and family ask how they could partner with us in our adoption journey. First and foremost, we would love for you to pray for our future birth mother, the precious baby, and us during the process. Secondly, we have been awarded a $5000 Matching Grant from Colonial Heights Baptist Church Adoption Fund, administered by Lifesong for Orphans, which we are SO grateful for. If you would like to donate, anything that is donated will be matched through this grant.

God has been so faithful to us thus far in our journey, and we are so excited to see our story unfold.

"I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him." 1 Samuel 1:27
