As many of you know, we have been trying to grow our family for several years. Those years have held seasons of grief, growth, uncertainty, and joy. Through our infertility journey and several losses, we have seen God’s goodness, and know that He was preparing us for where we are now. We felt called to adoption early on in our marriage, and it is something we each have had on our hearts for a long time. When thinking about whether or not to pursue further fertility treatments, we felt God move in both of our hearts to pursue adoption now and provide a loving home for a child. We believe that as Christians, we are God’s children that have been adopted into his family, sharing in the birthright and inheritance of our Heavenly Father, chosen and loved. Scripture also calls us to care for the widow and the orphan, and promises that God sets the lonely into families. Our hope is that you would see that this is not a “last resort” for us, but a calling and desire of our hearts.
By pursuing domestic infant adoption, we have both the opportunity to know, support, and show Christ’s love to an expectant mother and family during this process and throughout the child’s life. While adoption can be beautiful, we also understand that our gain is another mother’s loss. We wanted to ensure that our adoption was as ethical as possible, and chose to work with a consultant that prioritizes ethics, educaation, and birth mother support in the agencies they partner with.
How can you help?
Pray! Please pray for:
-
Our future child’s birth family- that they would feel loved, supported, and at peace with the decision to place. Pray that we can show them the love of Christ and be a witness to them throughout our relationship.
-
Peace for us, with the many unknowns and risks that go into the adoption process.
-
Patience as we wait for God’s plan to unfold.
-
Provision for financial needs and our ability to remain debt free in this process.
The average cost of domestic infant adoption in the US is between $50-70,000. We are doing our part by selling things around the house, applying for grants, picking up extra shifts at work, donating plasma, and hosting fundraisers to help offset some of these costs. We have already been so blessed and seen God opening doors and providing, and we know He will continue to do so! We are so thankful to have been awarded a $4,000 matching grant from Lifesong for Orphans!
If you would like to join us in our journey and support our adoption financially, every dollar you give will be matched through this grant!
Thank you for your love, support and prayer in the process! We know this child is already so loved and we are so excited to see how God will continue to work.
In Christ,
Joshua and Marissa Grimes
