God’s plan becomes our plan

Brian Gard Rockford, Michigan

In the spring of 2018 Brian and I decided to take a leap of faith and submit an application to adopt.  After months of discussion and God tugging on both our hearts we knew this was His path for us, however, we had no clue how the path would wind and lead us to where we are now!  We originally submitted an application to adopt an infant from the United States.  However, as the months went by and our home study was beginning we stumbled upon the Bamboo Project through Bethany Christian Services, which is a program for waiting children with Down syndrome in other countries.  It became clear after looking into this program and talking with our adoption worker that this is where God wanted us to land.  He provided many signs and situations that made that abundantly clear along the way!   In November 2018 we submitted our application for international adoption and committed to the Bamboo project.  After completing our home study in February 2019 we were matched with Ellie, our sweet 3 year old little girl currently living in China.  We are now working tirelessly to make sure we do all we can do to get her home with us where she belongs.  We have been told we will likely have her home in October or November 2019 based on where we are in the process at this time. God has opened so many doors along the way and has provided us with needed resources when necessary and people to help guide us, support us and love us along the way.  As we move ahead, following the path God has carved out for our family, we continue to work through the necessary paperwork and financial pieces that come with adopting a child.  In this next phase we will begin planning travel and the expenses that come along with that, as well as, fees associated with allowing Ellie to come to the United States.  Our goal is to raise enough funds to fully pay for each step. This is where your donation comes in!  We have been so blessed to have received $3000 matching grant from Grace Church Adoption fund, administered by Lifesong for Orphans. This means for every dollar we raise they will match it using this generous donation up to $3000!  Each donation will get us one step closer to taking care of those fees/travel costs and getting our sweet Ellie home! We have complete faith that God will provide! Thank you for being a part of our family’s story!
