Franje Adoption

Mandy Franje Grimes, Iowa

was in a small group years ago where a couple adopted two children and that initially sparked something in me. Fast forward a couple of years and then I became involved in an orphanage on the board of directors. I enjoyed being a part of the work this orphanage was doing and helping to make decisions for the children that would better their lives. During that time, I was also blessed to help with numerous fundraising events for the orphanage. A few years after that I had the privilege of traveling to Africa to work at an orphanage, which definitely increased my interest in adoption. During that time, I was single, but had this strong desire to adopt myself someday. During some early conversations between Nate and me, we discovered that there was also an interest on his part to adopt some day too. Nate was born in Africa to missionary parents and lived there until he was two before moving to Haiti until he was 5.

God has used our personal journeys to get to adoption to ultimately tie them together as a unit. In the summer of 2016 we began the process of saying yes to adoption and seeking out an adoption agency and a program that fit our family. And in March of 2017, we were able to travel to Central African Republic to meet the boys we are now adopting! This trip has been one of the most meaningful trips we have ever taken.

Adoption is no stranger to our families. Mandy’s sister has two adopted children from Africa (Ethiopia and South Africa) and Nate’s family is filled with adopted cousins. And ultimately, our story is one of adoption as we have been adopted into God’s family.

We are thankful to have you journey with us in our adoption of our two boys!
