We have always thought adoption would play a role in our lives as a family even though we have had the blessing of welcoming biological children into our home. Ultimately our faith in God has shown us the importance of caring for children in need of a good home. There are so many in need, we just want to help at least one child avoid the uncertainty of being placed into foster care.
At first, we thought our journey was leading us to adopt through foster care for financial reasons, and because the need for foster parents is great. We waited almost a year for a class to begin that we could attend, only to find out that the likelihood of being placed with a child forever was actually fairly slim. We have two children under the age of 6 and we did not want them to have to go through bonding and separation with a child. We left the class sure that we needed to refocus and pursue traditional adoption. We may foster children later in life as our children grow, but are so grateful that we both had the same sense of direction together as a couple.
Our search for an agency took much longer than we thought as we pursued domestic infant adoption. The cost of adoption is very overwhelming. We even had our home study provider question our ability to adopt based on our finances. That was so discouraging, but we know that God will make a way if we are meant to help this child and teach us to have faith throughout the process.
The agency we finally settled on clicked with us, because one of the bylaws of her agency is to make adoption affordable by reducing agency fees. We feel a deep urgency to be a good steward of any donations given by family and friends and grants we may receive. Even with choosing this agency, we are faced with an insurmountable task on our own. We do not have the financial means to adopt as a traditional adoption is costly.
We are beyond thankful to Lifesong for Orphans, as they have awarded us a $4000 matching grant and a platform to help us raise needed funds online. Every dollar contributed through this platform will be matched up to that amount and every dollar even beyond that amount will go toward bringing our baby home.
We appreciate each person who plays a part in bringing our baby home to us. We feel it makes their birth story that much more beautiful by having a large community of support and love to be our cheerleaders as they grow. We have just recently finalized our home study and we anticipate watching God provide as we wait on His timing to be matched with our sweet baby. Thank you so much for your time and attention.
We sincerely wish the best to you all for your care for us and our upcoming adoption.
