Our Story…
We have talked about adoption since we were dating and have prayed often throughout our marriage about the timing of this pursuit, wondering when God would reveal His timing between our terms in Chad. Knowing that God in His great love has chosen to call us into His forever family, He has given us His heart for adoption. We love because He first loved us, and we adopt because He first adopted us.
In the Fall of 2020, in the middle of a year of so much loss, God brought joy in confirming the time to move forward with adoption. As we researched and prayed about adoption from Africa, we saw a picture of a precious little boy in Nigeria waiting to be adopted. We jumped into the process of adopting him in November of 2020. We look forward to knowing more information about him soon and being able to share more about him with our friends and family.
Our Timeline...
The boys found out in November they would have another brother by unwrapping another adventure backpack (just like they each already have!) because an adoption journey is an adventure in trusting God, and He has been so faithful. (Pics of sharing with the boys included)
We completed our Home Study in December. In January we completed our dossier and got our I-600A off to USCIS for approval.
We chose a day based on our best math and a police report we have to celebrate little brother's birthday in February and got confirmation THAT DAY that all of our paperwork had arrived in Nigeria. (Pics of our birthday celebration with Nigerian food included)
Our next step is being officially matched with this little boy with the Nigerian ministry. We wait with joy and hope to hear this news officially soon.
God fills emptiness with Himself and rejoices in forming families. We watch expectantly to see how Jesus will provide in His kindness for what He has called our family to do in opening our hearts forever to another son and brother.
We have already felt the love and support of so many of you in this process! Thank you! We have been awarded a $5,000 matching grant from Fort Bend Community Church Adoption Fund, administered by Lifesong for Orphans. If you feel led to support financially, this matching grant will help us a tremendous amount in bringing home a little brother! We praise God for each of you on this journey with us through support and prayers as God forms our famly in this way.
