While we’ve officially been “home study ready” since September 2016, our hearts only had 12 hours to prepare for Pearl Amelia. In my follow-the-textbook mind, we would match with a birth mother, begin bonding with her, and start our fundraising. Of course, God follows no textbooks, and there wasn’t time before we traveled to set up our accounts! Though we feel strongly that God has called us to adoption, it is a step out in faith that He will provide all that we need, emotionally, physically, and financially. If you feel led and would like to walk alongside us in this journey by helping us raise a portion of the adoption funds, we would be forever grateful.
We have been approved for a $5,000 matching grant through our church, College Church, administered by LifeSong for Orphans. This is an amazing blessing and we are so grateful to attend a church that cares so deeply about orphans and adoption. In short, adoption is expensive (our total will top $40,000) but we felt strongly about pursuing an adoption avenue that provided for all the needs of our birthmother, both pre- and post-placement, and that certainly increases the financial burden. All funds raised will go directly to approved adoption costs (such as agency and legal fees, not personal expenses).
Please know that there is no amount too small, and if giving financially is not possible for you at this time, we still covet your prayers as we embark on this new adventure as a family of 6! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. If you haven’t already met her, we can’t wait to introduce you to our girl.
