We have been so overwhelmed and often moved to tears by the amount of love, prayers, kind words, and generous support. We are beyond thankful and are confident that God will continue to provide for all of our needs.
We do ask that you continue to pray for us! As we prepare to take our first trip to visit, pray that that God would calm our nerves and anxiousness. There’s so much to do before our trip and in preparation for Miles to come home –pray that we wouldn’t forget what’s most important. Pray God would help us to bond with him in the future. Lastly, pray that in the meantime as we wait in these last final months that we would grow in our love and support of each other!
We’ve been saving for an adoption since we were first married but realized it’s a bit more than we anticipated. The estimate is that it will cost us about $40,000 – $54,000. Friends have been asking us about this so we wanted to see if there was a tax-deductible way to give and we were able to find Lifesong – a Christian nonprofit dedicated to meeting the needs of orphan children around the world.
If you’re interested in supporting us in this way please note the details at the bottom of the page.
About 10 years ago, through a sermon at church, my heart was stirred to adopt as I began to understand the generous love of God to not only unconditionally love someone who is prideful, rebellious and ungrateful like me, but to adopt me into His family as his daughter! Shortly after, in God’s perfect plan, He brought along Alton into my life who also shared this same conviction and desire to adopt :):)
A couple of years later, we got married and made plans for what our life would look like. We dreamed that we would enjoy marriage, get a dog, have 1 or 2 children and then adopt a couple of children thereafter. A few years into our marriage, we began trying to start our family. But as the months and years went by, there were no children. This long and lonely journey led to many tears, anger, confusion, shame and on top of that, the hurtful insensitive comments, constant questions from people hurt me more than I ever thought possible. With a growing desire, growing disappointment, and growing expectation of others to be at a certain place in life, this has been a silent heavy burden that we never expected to carry.
But God is gracious, He sustained us (and continues to) and carries this load so that even in times that we lose heart, He holds us. The Lord reminds us that He is ever-present with our ultimate good in mind. He teaches us that He is more than sufficient for our needs and that His plans are not our plans. Through it all, we knew God was leading us to adopt in this season of our lives.
We decided to pursue the international route and have been in this crazy process of never-ending paperwork and a lot of waiting for what feels like forever. We wanted to share that we were finally matched with a baby boy from South Korea! Lord willing, we’ll be able to bring him home by Fall of this year. We rejoice in God’s goodness to us and we’re excited to be this little guy’s parents❤️!
Although we can’t share too much information about him publicly, we wanted to share this news with all of you and ask for your prayers as we prepare for this next stage of our lives!
