David and Hazel’s adoption story truly began in 2010, when we were both saved by Jesus and adopted into His family. Although we wouldn’t meet each other for another eight years, we were providentially rescued by Jesus in the same year and put on a track that would dramatically change our lives. Since becoming Christians, we have been deeply impacted by God’s love and how he has shown profound mercy and grace by saving us into his family. After we met in the fall of 2018, Jesus called us to move from Seattle, WA to Raleigh, NC with a team of people to help start a new gospel centered Church. It was on this church planting mission that Jesus put us together and we were married in November of 2020.
Since the beginning of our marriage we have had a deep desire that our lives would be spent for the gospel and others would know God’s incredible love through faith in Jesus. We are deeply grateful for how God has built a wonderful Church in downtown Raleigh with many new friends and families. Church planting has definitely not been easy, however, we are so amazed at how Jesus builds his church, and how his saving love is unshakable.
After beginning our marriage in 2020, we had hopes that God would build our family biologically and allow us to begin having children. At the same time, we also shared a mutual desire to pursue adoption in hopes that we could provide a loving home and family in the same way that God has provided for us. Thus far in our marriage, we have not been able to conceive, and yet are trusting Gods perfect plan in building our family. We are full of faith and excitement for how God will use adoption to share his love with our future children. We are also excited for the influence we could possibly have on our church community. David is the lead Pastor of our church, and we hope adoption will set a Christ-like example that could inspire others to follow in that path.
We are currently in the domestic infant adoption program, which means we will be adopting at birth or up to 6 months old. Our home study has been finalized and we are currently applying for grants to help lessen the financial burden. The donations will help cover agency costs, legal fees, and travel expenses. Thankfully Lifesong for Orphans has graciously awarded us a $4,000 matching grant! For each dollar donated, they will match up to that amount. We also recently received an incredibly generous grant from the Forever Home Foundation of $10,000! To say that we are thankful and blown away by God's faithfulness is an understatement! We will continue moving forward and trusting in God's provision and perfect plan.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and prayerful support as you share in this journey with us!
