Before starting the adoption journey we had been going through fertility issues for two years. Month after month goes by and we still are unable to get pregnant, even though we have gotten good check ups from the doctors. This had been particularly hard on Jessie, but through it all we believed (and still to this day believe) that she would become pregnant. We kept reminding ourselves that God’s timing is perfect, and we just have to trust him in that.
June 24, 2022 became a date that would forever change our lives. It was the day the Roe vs. Wade decision was overturned in the Supreme Court. Almost immediately we felt like God was tugging on our hearts to show us that adoption was to be our first step towards a child. On that day we were actually driving our youth group to a Christian retreat. Later that weekend one of the speakers mentioned how wonderful it was that the decision was overturned, but that now it was time for the church to step up. That message felt like it was God’s Word himself telling us that adoption was how our family was to begin. And if we had been able to get pregnant right away, I don’t know that we would have been open to adoption when June 24, 2022 rolled around.
On this same trip God spoke to Jessie saying, “You’re going to be a mom no matter what that looks like.” It was a moment where God was asking us to release the hurts, worries, and stresses of this situation and trust Him. That weekend we realized the reason for the past two years of pain: God was preparing our hearts for adoption. God’s timing is perfect, and it led us here to adopting a child and following His plan for our lives.
For just over a year now we have been on our adoption journey. We have received several info summaries to this point, but last week we received an info summary we felt that God was calling us to say yes to. This past Tuesday, October 10 we got the official word that we had matched! We are beyond excited and can't wait to share our story further in detail later.
So many people have asked us how you can help, and this is where you can come in. With the adoption process there are several expenses including multiple agency fees, home study fees, placement fee, some travel expenses, etc. If you feel led we would love for you to be apart of our journey in this way. We have also been awarded $6,000 in matching grants from Morningview Baptist Church Adoption Fund and Lifesong for Orphans, so the first $6000 given will be matched dollar for dollar! Any help would be appreciated. Thank you so much for faithfully praying for us in this adoption journey. We love y'all!
