Tanner and I have always known we wanted to adopt. Since we were married 9 years ago we have tried everything to have and to adopt children. Tanner and I are both teachers and we love our students with all our hearts, but we have always wanted to be parents. Tanner teaches at an elementary school and I teach preschool in our home. Tanner made my dream of our in-home preschool a reality for me because he knew I would want to stay at home to raise our family. We have been so blessed by the love and laughter of children and we have had so much fun with the children in our preschool, but we cannot wait to make these special memories with our own children.
Our struggles with fertility and adoption have been so heartbreaking. We have tried to adopt privately and through foster care. Recently we tried to adopt a baby boy who was abandoned in the hospital. He was so perfect and we thought for sure He was God’s blessing and answer to so many years of prayers. After we fell in love with him and cared for him for a month we lost him in court. Our hearts were shattered in a million pieces and to be honest we have both really had a very hard time healing. We know we live in a fallen world but this loss was more than our hearts could bare… God has held our hearts in His hands and showed us His presence through not one but several failed adoptions and failed fertility treatments. We know we would never have made it without Him and we still trust Him and know that one day when we meet the children He has planned for us it will all be worth the wait. We had an empty nursery for a baby girl and now have an empty nursery for a baby boy.. Everything we have done for the past nine years has been to prepare to have a family. Our hearts and home are ready and our family and friends cannot wait to welcome our baby home.
