Growing our family through adoption

Jen Booth
Jen Booth Columbia, South Carolina

We are excited to announce that we are growing our family through adoption! We have partnered with Lifeline Children's Services to pursue domestic adoption. We've completed our homestudy process, and we're awaiting being matched.

Even from our dating years (yes, years, Dave and I can be a little hard-headed…), we talked about the beauty of the Gospel in adoption and our willingness to adopt. Then in our early years of marriage, as we considered starting a family, we again talked about our desire and willingness to adopt.  Along came two biological children, filling our home and lives with energy and noise.

So two years ago, when we talked about whether God would have us expand our family again, we returned again to the idea of adoption. This time, we felt more than a general sense of willingness. This time, we felt certain that God had a plan for us to adopt. Through our precious nephews and niece, and countless families we’d encountered over the years, we had seen the grief and the hope of adoption. We saw how God brought peace and restoration in the midst of crisis and brokenness (Isaiah 61:1-4).

We, as a family (our boys included), want to welcome the messiness and heartbreak that can come with adoption. We believe that God loves to bring beauty from ashes. He has a loving plan for each birth mom and child in crisis, and He wants to use our family to bring the light of the Gospel into hard places through adoption.

We hope you will join with us through prayer, encouragement, and maybe even financial support. We have been awarded a $3,500 matching grant from Josiah’s Adoption Fund, administered by Lifesong for Orphans. If God would lead you to be a part of our adoption story, please consider giving financially. We know that not all are able or led to give financially, but we also really covet your prayer and encouragement. So please join with us to see what God might do!

Heading into Fall — a Season of Waiting

September 16, 2021

We wanted to post a quick update, first to express our gratitude! We have received such generous financial gifts as well as notes and words of encouragement. So THANK YOU!

Second, we wanted to let you know that we are in a period of waiting–waiting to be matched with the birth mom and baby that God has called us to love and serve through adoption. We have completed all of the steps in our home study so our profile is now regularly being shown. So this could be a lengthy wait or a very quick one! Only God knows!

Please continue to pray for us…

  – to have wisdom as we consider possible matches,

  – to persevere in this season of waiting, and

  – to stay strong and connected as a couple and family.

Please pray for the family that we will be loving through adoption…

  – to have peace with this adoption plan,

  – to feel God’s love through this process, and

  – to be open to the Gospel as they are counseled through this crisis.

So again, thank you so much for your love and support! We really could not even consider this ministry if it were not for the incredible Christian community that God has placed us in!

Dave & Jen (and the boys)
