God began working in our hearts concerning adoption even before we were married over 15 years ago. In early 2022, God began to clearly show us that He wanted us to pursue adoption. God reminded us that we are called to walk by faith, and He also proved He could meet specific needs we had. (We wish you could hear all the stories about His provision in our lives! He has answered prayers in such amazing ways!)
We continue to trust the Lord as He builds our family through adoption!
We have been awarded a $4,500 matching grant from Josiah’s Adoption Fund, administered by Lifesong for Orphans! That means that every dollar you give, up to the first $4,500 we raise, will be matched by Josiah’s Adoption Fund! We are so thankful for their generous contribution!
Q&A time!
What agency are you working with?
We are with Lifeline Children’s Services!
When did you begin the adoption process?
We sent in our application on May 30th, 2022.
Are you adopting domestically or internationally?
We are adopting from Costa Rica!
Why did you choose to adopt from Costa Rica?
As we looked at the different countries where Lifeline serves, Costa Rica stood out to us. We had taken a mission trip there in 2012 where we had the chance to minister to hundreds of kids – it made a huge impact in our lives. Other factors we considered were the total cost, the total expected time, and the length of the required in-country travel time. (Each country has different requirements and expectations.)
How many children are you adopting?
We are in a sibling group program and are waiting to see how many children we will be approved for in our Home Study. We are open to any number from 2 up to 5 children!
Why is adoption so expensive? Why do you need to raise so much money?
Our adoption agency gives us an estimate of the total cost, so we can have a fundraising goal. The average cost to adopt a child from Costa Rica is about $42,000. Since we are in a sibling group program, some of these costs will be higher (because they are per child – for example, passports, plane tickets, document translation, etc.).
All funds raised through this crowdfunding site (even if our goal is exceeded) will be used towards adoption-related expenses!
