Carlisle Adoption Fundraiser

Sara Carlisle
Sara Carlisle Nashville, North Carolina

In high school, I (Sara) remember the Director of Domestic Adoptions speaking at our school about her work at Christian Adoption Services. I was struck by the impactful work that she did "connecting vulnerable children with Christian families." I thought through what that might mean in my life, and entertained the idea of being a social worker, but later realized that maybe God was planting a seed in my heart to give consideration to grow my family through adoption. A few years later, I was diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome, a genetic connective tissue disease. While this is relatively mild in my case, it is not encouraged to become pregnant because of the possible medical complications and the genetic component that could impact our biological children. I felt like at that point, God truly settled in me the plan to later adopt children into my family, versus having biological children. Years later after discussion and prayer, Phillip and I agreed that adoption would, in fact, be the route we would take to bring children into our family. We chose to work through CAS, whose mission I'd heard all those years ago which sparked a flame in my heart toward adoption. We adopted our first son, Camden, through CAS in 2018. We continue to be amazed by all the ways in which we saw God weave together Camden's adoption story from birth to present day and are excited to begin a second adoption journey to welcome another sweet little one into our family.

We do not yet know the child we will be placed with, but we are excited to meet them soon! Our placement will occur in either North or South Carolina. Our hope is that we are able to be a small part of fulfilling the mission statement of our agency, to provide a loving Christian home to a vulnerable child. We look forward to raising our children in a safe, welcoming and loving environment, and providing much needed security to foster their emotional wellbeing. Though much is uncertain, we do know that God has our future planned out before us and as Ephesians 3:20 says, that "God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think." We are trusting in that promise as we open the door into the financial unknown of adoption yet again. It is our prayer that God will provide the resources for us to continue to grow our family through the blessing of adoption, and that He will use us in the lives of any expectant mothers we encounter to show His grace, love and mercy.

Fundraising Update

March 26, 2021

Hi Friends!

We are SO thankful for the love and support we have received so far on our adoption journey. We have raised nearly $8,000 through our Sponsor a Square fundraiser and our virtual benefit concert. This page is a result of a grant we’ve received through Lifesong ministry, in partnership with Redeemer Church. We are praising God that we’ve received this grant through Lifesong/Redeemer and ability to share this mySTORY platform with our church body. We are so grateful for the support Redeemer provided us on our first adoption journey and now again on our second. We could not do this without you, and we are grateful for God’s provision for our family in this way. We look forward to our child to growing up surrounding by our supportive community we’ve found in this body of believers.

The current “goal” total reflects the remaining adoption costs after accounting for our completed fundraisers (benefit concert and Sponsor a Square) and the Redeemer/Lifesong grant.  We know adoption can be an expensive endeavor, but it is so worth it to be a part of the story that God is writing for our family and our future child. Please continue to be in prayer for all involved in our adoption story – from our future child, to their birth family, and those we will meet along the way. Thank you for partnering with our family on our adoption journey
