After four challenging years of trying to start a family, we believe God has brought us to this surprising new chapter in our marriage — and we could not be more excited!
As Christians, adoption means more to us than finally having a child (though of course we’re overjoyed about that). It’s about extending God’s love to others, just as God shows his love for us by making us his children. In Christ, we’re all adopted.
Our hope is to be paired with a birth mother and bring home a newborn in the next several months, though it could be sooner or later than that.
Practically speaking, we need to raise about $40,000 to pay for the adoption.
We are humbly asking for support from you, our family and friends. If you feel led to donate any amount to help cover costs, we would be exceedingly grateful. Each donation made here is tax-deductible, and we were blessed to receive an $8,000 matching grant from Legacy 685 Adoption Fund, administered by Lifesong for Orphans. In other words, for every dollar donated, Lifesong will match that same amount up to $8,000.
When we first set out on this journey, we partnered with a South Dakota agency called Heart2Heart Adoptions with the intention of adopting locally within the state of South Dakota due to financial restrictions. If we stayed in state, our total adoption cost would be around $25,000. We’ve been prayerfully considering opening up our adoption to more states, which would mean we would actually need to raise about $40,000. That number includes every single cost of the process from fingerprints and background checks to agency fees, legal fees, travel costs, and post-adoption requirements. While it is more expensive to adopt out of state, we hope it would increase our odds or expedite the process of getting matched with a birth mother and bringing home our precious baby.
We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our friends and family throughout this process so far! We've already raised $22,000 prior to receiving this matching grant. Unfortunately none of the money already received can go towards this grant, which is why we're asking friends and family to donate through this website for the remaining funds. God is clearly providing for us, and we feel so reassured that adoption is what he has planned for us. We take comfort in knowing that God already has our child picked out for our family, and while $40,000 is a lot to ask for, we know God will continue to provide for us.
