We are officially Home Study approved! Justin is picking up the notarized copies today!

The second exciting thing is because it took a little while to get the home study done, we can do the next step TODAY as well! We are sending off our I 800 A form to USCIS today as well. This could take several weeks to a month to come back but when it does we will have everything that we need to submit our Dossier! So, the dominoes are falling guys!

We still need about $6000 or so toward travel costs, but now that we have the home study I can start applying for grants to help with that a little. There isn’t a guarantee that we are approved for any grants, so we will also still be FUNdraising. We plan to launch a new tshirt FUNdraiser with emphasis on Fabian’s HOMECOMING soon!

Hello everyone!

Thank you all for joining us on this crazy adventure that is international adoption! Some days you’re walking on top of clouds and some days you’re drowning in paperwork, but every day is a day that brings us one step closer to bringing Fabian home!

As of today 8/6/2021 we are basically done with our Home Study. We are waiting on a few minor revisions to our Psyc Eval and Justin’s passport. We have to get our physicals done (which expire in 6 months so we are waiting as long as possible to do that) and then we are Home Study Approved! Once we have a copy of the Home Study and Psyc Eval we can submit our I 800a (the application to approve Fabian’s immigration into the USA as a citizen) and our Dossier. Then, it’s just a big waiting game for all of that to be approved and come back. We have to be fingerprinted by the FBI (fancy right?) and have biometrics done, but that will be scheduled for us when our I 1800a is approved. 

Timeline: The biggest questions we get are “how much longer” and “when we will he know?” The answer to both of those is “less than a year.” That’s about as close of a range as we can tell you. The wheels of government turn slowly and the wheels of international governments turn even more slowly. But, we are far enough into the process that we can say less than a year. A typical adoption takes 12-18 months. We can slice 6ish months off of that because we don’t have to go through the traditional matching process since we hosted Fabian. We have been working on this for 13 weeks now, so 3ish months so we are in the 9 months left range for a typical adoption. We’ll see where things go from here.
