Hello! We are the Caliendo’s, and we love family. It’s kind of what we’re all about. We both grew up in very tight-knit families, that did nearly everything together. In our college years, we had our eyes open to the reality of Jesus’ death and resurrection to restore our relationship with God our Father, and to make us a part of His family. Our relationship with our closest brothers and sisters in Christ at our church ever-increasingly reflects that reality.
Even early on in our marriage, we started to have conversations about reflecting that spiritual and church familly reality in a most tangible and serving way. What serves others and communicates inclusion by Christ in God’s family better than adoption?? We had that conversation a number of times, but our trigger for getting started was seeing other families in our church going through the adoption process. Being inspired by their stories, and having fear of the unknown largely alleviated, we really felt motivated to start. Since then, we’ve finished our home study, finished our family profile book, and have applied for one adoptive situation. We feel like we’re close to the end (or start, depending on how you look at it…), and we are so anxious and excited to give love and a family to our adopted child!!
The exciting thing about this fundraiser is that we have been awarded a $3000 matching grant from Grace Presbyterian (our home church) Adoption Fund, administered by Lifesong for Orphans! Meaning all donations up to our $3000 goal will be matched $1-to-$1.
STRIPE charges an online processing fee (2.2% +.30 USD per transaction). Your donations will be decreased by this amount. You may also send a check payable to “Lifesong for Orphans”. In the memo line please write “Caliendo 8078”, to ensure it is credited to our account. Please mail to Lifesong for Orphans, PO Box 40, Gridley, IL 61744.
Lifesong has been blessed with partners who underwrite all U.S. administrative and fundraising costs (TMG Foundation and other partners). That means 100% of your donation will go directly to the adoption.
