***We are so excited and thankful that Lifesong has given our project a $100,000 matching grant! This means that every dollar given up to $100,000 will be matched/doubled!***
Here in Odessa, Ukraine, the goal of our Lifesong team is to care for, stay connected to, and guide the children we know in orphanages all the way to independent adult life and beyond. An essential part of meeting this goal is the family care and nurture that we are able to provide to the orphanage graduates and younger foster children who live in our transition homes.
Lifesong Odessa is currently supporting three families/homes for orphans, but we only have one permanent house available. The other two families are living in rental homes which are not very well suited for large families and this kind of ministry. In order to provide the stability and space needed to be able to care for orphans well we have decided to move forward with plans to build two new homes which will house two families with up to eight children/teenagers each.
For several months our team was searching for property options in the area of town where our Boys’ Transition Home and the six rent-to-own homes for orphan graduates are. Very few properties were available and the prices were too high for our budget. Two plots of land situated right next to the Boys’ Transition Home seemed like a perfect option, but we could not get in touch with the owners. But then quite suddenly a new realtor we are working with was able to locate the two owners of these exact properties and they want to sell!
This turn of events was a surprise to us, but not a surprise to the young foster children in one of our families. They have been praying each night that God would provide the land and money and bricks that we need to build a house for them and their “neighbors” (which is how they refer to our third family). Talk about the faith of little children! God has heard their prayers and has indeed provided two plots of land right next to each other and next to our existing house for these children and their “neighbors”.
We are excited to see how God is at work here in Odessa and would like to invite you to join in. As you can imagine buying land and building homes is not cheap and we are trusting that God will provide all the financial resources that we need to complete this project. We anticipate the total cost to be around $200,000 to buy two pieces of property and build two homes.
