Bryan and I have had adoption in our minds and hearts for over a decade! Now that it's happening, we feel so honored and humbled to bring home Baby McGinn!
We have a beautiful little family, our daughter Amara is 7 and our son Levi is 5. After Levi was born, I had complications related to the pregnancy that resulted in being unable to have more children. At the time we were sad, but at peace, knowing that God had a plan for even this heartbreak. We wondered if someday adoption would be in our future, but we were mostly thrilled to have a healthy baby and toddler at home.
When Levi was 2 years old, we felt a stirring to learn more about adoption and consider if we could become adoptive parents. As Christians, we believe that God calls us to care for orphans, and we asked God what this could mean for us. As we learned more about adoption, we learned that there are many opportunities to care for women facing unplanned pregnancy, by choosing to adopt here in the US. We have been pursuing adoption and seeking to care and show love to expectant moms for over two years. And now, we’ve been chosen to parent a little boy who will come into the world at the end of December! We can’t wait to meet our son and we feel so honored to be chosen to be his parents. As we meet with social workers, adoption lawyers, and especially our son’s mom, we are praying that God’s glory shines into our interactions! Our desire is to point to God as the ultimate source of hope in uncertain and difficult situations.
We are inviting our friends and family to donate to our adoption fundraising efforts as we seek to raise the last 20% of total adoption costs. It feels vulnerable to put our needs into the world and ask people for help. As a friend recently told me, we are giving our community an opportunity to be generous and to be part of our child’s story!
Costs of adoption include home study fees, background checks, legal fees, living expenses for birth mom, travel expenses and agency fees including counseling and care for birth mom.
Lifesong has generously given us a matching grant, which is such a gift! This organization is so neat, because your donations are tax deductable and we will not incur any administrative fees! If you choose to pay by credit card, there are processing fees, but you can avoid this by donating by check, if that’s important to you.
Thank you so much for encouraging us, praying for us and financially sharing with us, to bring the newest McGinn family member home!
Sincerely, Kylie and Bryan
