We are the Rogers family and live in Birmingham with our four kids. We are so excited to share that the legal side of the adoption of our 2 year old son Joshua Yash Rogers from India is complete! We will be able to bring him home in August as soon as his passport is available and are preparing to travel soon. Last week we received the wonderful news that we have been awarded a $1500 matching grant from Lifesong for Orphans to help us with our upcoming travel costs (estimated to be about a total of $10,000). That means all donations will be matched by Lifesong and double in value. All donations will go towards covering parts of our flights and will help to bring Joshua Yash home.
For anyone who does not know our story, it has been amazing to see God at work leading us and encouraging us every step of the way. In January 2017 we felt God leading us to start the adoption process during "21 days of prayer and fasting". Two years later after lots of paperwork we were at the point of matching with a child. On February 5th our agency called with a potential match and gave us some basic info of an orphan boy named Yash such as his medical conditions and birth date. We were interested and asked for them to send us his file to review. However, shortly after we hung up the phone Cleon remembered that God had spoken to him two years prior in January 2017 during “21 days of prayer and fasting” with Church of the Highlands. He had written in his prayer journal that he had the strong feeling that our child was already born and that we would start the adoption process that same day. We realized that God was speaking to us once again because Yash was also born in January 2017! Quickly Damaris ran downstairs, found the prayer journal and found the exact entry date. The journal entry date was January 17th 2017, the precise birthday of our precious new son Yash! We were blown away with what the Lord had done and immediately knew that God had spoken. Our decision was made! Without even opening his file we commited to adopting Yash. We do not know how Yash came to need adoptive parents, but we know that he has never been alone. When he was born the eyes of the Lord saw him become an orphan in India and immediately his voice spoke to Cleon in Birmingham.
God has his hand all over this adoption and we are so amazed by His faithfulness. He is so real, so close to us and so faithful! To Him be all the glory!
