Bringing Home Linia and Via!

Kindra Church Colton, Washington

God first called me to Haiti when I was 14 years old.  It was 6 years before I was able to obey Him but when I did it changed me.

After living there a while God told me, “adopt”!  Over the next few years I adopted my two oldest daughters.

After meeting and marrying my husband eleven years ago we have gone on to add 8 more children via adoption and foster dozens more. Our most recent addition was our 11-yr-old son Junior from Haiti this past March!

Nearly 6 years ago we began the process to be Linia’s family and this past January sweet Via was added to that dossier!

You can’t put a price tag on what’s priceless, so we have continued to pursue them despite the mounting costs.  After starting Linia’s process over completely in the fall of 2015 (due to changing laws) it is finally happening! Prayerfully we expect our sweet babies, now ages 16 and 5, to be joining us in the next few months.

Please join us in being a family for these two brave children. They want desperately to be home!  We have several more payments due to the agency soon and then travel.

STRIPE charges an online processing fee (2.2% +.30 USD per transaction). Your donations will be decreased by this amount. You may also send a check payable to “Lifesong for Orphans”. Almost there!

February 24, 2019

We are almost there!  Will I still travel next month or will the recent chaos in Haiti and the RFE because of our move last fall push that out further?  Only God knows, but the time will be right.  I will have to admit that this latest request for evidence coupled with the pulling of embassy personnel from Haiti (no personnel, no visa) has not been to my liking.  But stressing won’t fix it.

Let’s hope that the next time you all hear from me its because I am on a plane to bring our girls home!

Where are we now?

December 26, 2018

With the year coming to a close and the girls not home I thought I would share where we are at and ask for your continued prayers and support.

Last week, despite the courts being on strike we received the adoption judgement for Via giving her our last name and getting us one step closer.  Sadly, Linia does not yet have her judgement as the prosecutor on her case has been on a lengthy vacation.

Knowing that we still need a judgement for Linia, and then decrees, passports, and visas for both girls our best guess is I will be traveling in March.

On our end there are several things that have to come together before then.  All things that have become necessary as the process has continued on.  Today I submit my passport renewal as it expires in 2 weeks.  In October we submitted an I800A Supplement 3 because of our move.  However, that has not been approved and we received an RFE.  This requires another homestudy update, which required all new physicals for the 12 of us and background checks for 4 of us and FBI prints for 2 of us.  All that is back and well.  Now the homestudy update is on another hold as our oldest daughter is coming up fast on her 18th birthday.  This requires FBI prints on her as well before the homestudy update can be completed.  It also requires a Supplement 1 and biometrics with USCIS (but Supplement 3 needs approved first which requires the updated homestudy?)  So off for more prints and requests today.

Anyhow, as you can see it is a non-stop circular paper chase and none of it is free.  Please pray that all of the US side comes together in an unexplained smooth and proficient way so that it is all ready and waiting when we get the call to schedule our girls visa appointments.

There are 5 days left to make a tax-deductible donation to LifeSong toward our adoption.  Thank you ever so much if you are able!   So happy to have just received a grant last week from Pure Gift of God!  We have also raised $3000 with holiday fundraisers!

May you have a joyous and blessed end of the year as 2019 greets us!

Adoption Authorization Received!

October 14, 2018

The 22 weeks waiting for the Adoption Authorization seemed like forever but they are finally over!  Next up: Adoption Decree.  Hopefully this step won’t take too long and will happen before the holidays hit and government offices close.

The next few months as we wait for the last few steps to be completed will be busy applying for grants and fundraising.  Our next payment to the agency is due NOW and is $6490.  And there will be a final payment and travel arrangements to pay for within the next few months.

I have 9 more organizations to apply for grants with.  I am hopeful that we will be accepted by some.  Pray for favor with them.

Also, now that we are semi-settled into our new home I will be back in the fundraising saddle.  Expect to see soaps, pies, jewelry for sale and maybe even a shoe drive fundraiser.  Please check back frequently to see where we’re at and support us in this final stretch of adoption costs.

You can also always make a tax-deductible donation toward our adoption on this site and those are appreciated as well!

Much love,

Kindra

Bit by bit

July 15, 2017

Yesterday’s updates may seem small but they are steps forward.  Junior’s documents are still on a very busy translator’s desk somewhere.  Linia’s papers are headed to Children’s court.  Praising God for the direction they are headed!

Progress!

July 1, 2017

Yesterday we received news that Junior received his Article 16 letter from IBESR.  Dossier is headed to the translator next week and then we can file our I800 for him.  Guys, there is a good chance that he is on track to be able to come home with us when we return from Haiti after Christmas!  Been lots of happy tears this week.

An important step in getting Linia’s adoption moving again is supposed to happen Monday.  Prayers that the person necessary on Monday is able to make it.

Thanks prayer warriors!
