the who…
We are the Bruce family. Sam and Kari are both missionary kids, growing up on the exact opposite sides of the world. Somehow the Lord led us together and after marrying in 2008, we decided to pursue missions while also building our family. We have two biological children and one adopted son from Madagascar. With the help of our adoption agency, Small World, and through the prayers of many, we went through the whole adoption process while living overseas. The 2020 pandemic couldn’t even stop us from finalizing our adoption!
the what and the why…
We decided that we wanted to add to our family by means of adoption in January of this year, 2022, trusting that adding a daughter would “complete” our family and meet the needs of at least one more orphan.
the where…
We chose Liberia because Madagascar no longer seemed like a viable option for us, despite our ties there now forever deep.
the when…
On September 2, 2022 we were matched with not one daughter, but TWO. Ok Lord, we’re gonna trust you on this one. We said YES.
Our daughters are not babies but they are our babies. They are sisters, ages 7 and 5 years old and they are in need of a family.
It is our hope to be able to travel to meet and pick up our girls sometime in the spring of 2023.
the details…
Many of you know that the costs of adoption can be overwhelming and we want to be forthright with where we are at. If you feel uncomfortable giving towards our adoption, we completely understand your hesitations. We have paid for most of our agency and adoption expenses from our own personal savings and will only be doing one fundraiser. We have also applied for a couple of grants. Know that the funds we receive can be put towards one time costs of travel to Liberia then on to the states (covers two adults and adopted children), accommodations in Liberia, and our final adoption expenses. We are fully capable of providing for our kids’ daily needs but any giving we receive will help towards those large one time expenses.
Finally, we are excited to share with you that we have been awarded a matching grant from the Tim Tebow Foundation Adoption Fund which is administered by Lifesong for Orphans! This means that any funds that we receive to our Lifesong account will be matched dollar for dollar up to $10,000!! We are humbled and amazed at the ways God is providing for us and for our daughters! God is pretty amazing!
If you feel led to give, you may do so through this page or by sending Lifesong a check. If writing a check, please make sure to make it out to Lifesong for Orphans and include our names and #10297 in the memo line.
