“Where God guides, He provides.” -Isaiah 58:11
Throughout the past year, we (Nathan and Jessica) have stood on the promise of this verse, and continue to see the Lord keep His word above and beyond what we could have imagined!
I (Jessica) have always had a heart for adoption and knew that someday it would be part of my story. After meeting Nate and sharing my heart for it, he shared the same feelings. However, we both thought adoption would be “someday”…. after our biological children were grown, after we did this or did that…. but God had a better story.
Nate and I married in 2013 and welcomed our first biological daughter, Josie Kate, in 2015. In the summer of 2018, we were considering growing our family biologically when our world came to a halt with my diagnosis of a brain tumor. While thankfully benign, we didn’t know what my health outlook would be, and figured our plans of growing our family would at least be put off for a while. But again, God had a better story.
Around that same time, the Lord starting putting adoption in my path– on the bulletin board at the grocery store, on the radio, in the random book I was reading, at the Mexican restaurant– so much so, that I couldn’t ignore it. He started bringing people in my path who had been on the adoption journey, who would just share it with me, and had no idea how it was stirring in my heart. One day while driving to work, I finally spoke out loud to the Lord “If you want us to do this, give me a very, very clear sign.” (As if He hadn’t already been!) And that very day, He did something quite miraculous. I knew it was time to share it with Nate.
That night, I shared what I had been encountering with Nate, and His heart was in the very same place. In that moment, we knew without a doubt that it was still the time to add to our family– just maybe not the exact way we had planned it. God had a better story.
Fast forward to now (May 2019), and we are still living in Isaiah 58:11– He has provided us with wonderful agencies, family, friends, co-workers, community, resources and so much throughout this process. And most of all, He has provided us with a CHILD! A precious child that He has created. In April 2019, we were matched with a birthmother due in November 2019. We are so fortunate to live close enough to her that we have been able to meet with her several times, be at doctor’s appointments with her and form a relationship with her. We love her and appreciate her for choosing life, and choosing us.
We are so thankful that God had a better story, and we appreciate that you would consider being a part of our story! THANK YOU for your prayers, support, kind words, and any financial contribution towards this process.
We are very fortunate to have been gifted a $3,500 matching grant through Lifesong for Orphans and Orphan Care Alliance to help cover the cost of our adoption. Thus, if we raise $3,500, it will be matched penny-for-penny, totaling $7,000. These funds will go directly towards helping to cover our agency fees. All funds we receive over the $3,500 will still come 100% to us, but will not be matched.
