Who We Are
We are John and Stacey Bull. We have been married for 5.5 years! We have 2 dogs. We have always wanted children and can’t wait to become parents.
Why We Are Adopting
As most married couples do, we began trying to grow our family after two years of marriage. After a year of trying to conceive we began seeking further help and were frustrated and confused. We both continued to seek God and what His plan was for the growth of our family. In January 2020, Stacey felt the Lord impress upon her heart that He was going to remember us like He remembered Hannah in 1 Samuel. At this time we felt like this meant we should continue to try and seek out more testing. After many tests and doctor’s appointments, we found out we are unable to have children. We were told that IVF was our only option and even that might not be possible. We were both devastated. We didn’t understand why God had made it clear to us that He was going to remember us like He remembered Hannah yet we were told our chances of conception were slim. We continued to seek the Lord and His plan for us. We felt like the Lord was pointing us towards adoption. We both had instant peace when we made the decision to pursue adoption and not fertility treatments. A year to the date of Stacey feeling the Lord stirring and telling her that He was going to remember us is when we made the decision to pursue adoption. We know that wasn’t by coincidence but that adoption is truly God’s plan for the growth of our family.
What Type Of Adoption
We are pursuing a newborn, domestic adoption. We are working with Faithful Adoption Consultants. We also are believing that the Lord will enable us to adopt DEBT-FREE!
Where We Are In Our Journey
We are currently active. Active means we are set expectant mom cases and we decide if we would like for our profile, a book about us, to be presented to her. We review cases weekly and we said yes or no. Each case gives us information about the expectant mom and baby. It also tells us how much the total adoption will cost.
We began actively fundraising at the end of January 2021. Throughout our journey, we have trusted the Lord to provide for our adoption and He has proven Himself faithful over and over. We have raised over half of our funds thus far and we are believing that the Lord will provide every cent that we need to cover our adoption costs 100%.
Matching Grants
We have received matching grants of $5,900 from Westwood Baptist Church + Lifesong Adoption Funds. This means every donation is matched equally up to $5,900. This is incredible! We are so blessed that we have been awared these matching grants! $5,900 is a lot and helps us get so much closer to our goal but $11,800 (the amount it will be once it is matched) helps us to almost close the gap on the remaining amount that we still need to fully fund our adoption. We know that only GOD can enable these grants to be fully matched. We are continuing to stand firm on the promise that He will remember us and that He will provide.
Why Does Adoption Cost So Much
We get this question a lot! Here’s what some of the funds cover: living expenses and doctor expenses for the expectant mom, agency fees- including placement fees and matching fees, social work fees, application fees, and legal fees just to name a few.
STRIPE charges an online processing fee (2.2% +.30 USD per transaction). Your donations will be decreased by this amount. You may also send a check payable to “Lifesong for Orphans”. In the memo line please write “Bull 09833”, to ensure it is credited to our account. Please mail to Lifesong for Orphans, PO Box 9, Gridley, IL 61744.
Lifesong has been blessed with partners who underwrite all U.S. administrative and fundraising costs (TMG Foundation and other partners). That means 100% of your donation will go directly to the adoption.
- In following IRS guidelines, your donation is to Lifesong for Orphans. This organization retains full discretion over its use, but intends to honor the donor’s suggested use.
- Lifesong is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization. Individual donations of $50 or more and yearly donations totaling $250 or more will receive a tax-deductible receipt. Receipts for donations under $50 will gladly be sent upon request.
