Bringing Bella Home!

Frick
Frick Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

When we brought our second child home, we started on a new journey as parents to a wonderful little girl born with Prader-Willi Syndrome.  God asked us to step out in faith and adopt Chloe and He has provided every step of the way as we learned to navigate the new and challenging world of special needs parenting.  She is now two years old and full of such life that we can’t imagine our family without her!  As her adoption became final, we began praying about what future plans the Lord had in mind for our family.  We felt called by God to adopt more and had even discussed the possibility of adopting another child with special needs.  Little did we know just how soon He would be asking us to bring another child into our lives!

Early in February of 2018, our adoption caseworker, who has become an integral part of our family, sent us the profile of a sweet little four month old girl named Bella.  Her circumstances were very similar to that of our daughter, Chloe, and we knew very quickly that God was calling us to pursue becoming Bella’s forever home.  She was diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome shortly after birth and her birth parents then decided to make an adoption plan as they felt that they wouldn’t be able to provide the care she needed.  When we decided to pursue adopting Bella, we completed an online application and from there the process happened very quickly.  We met Bella and her birth parents on what turned out to be a very special Valentines day!  They confirmed that they wanted to place her into our home and we immediately set to work preparing to welcome her home.

It occured to us only after we said yes that we would have to find some way to finance this new adoption! Although we had some assistance with funding our first two adoptions, they had happened so quickly that we weren't given much time to save and fund raise.  This left us taking on some debt in order to completely pay for our adoptions. We had no doubt that God would provide if He was calling us to adopt Bella, so we quickly reached out to several organizations.  In a wonderful act of provision, we were graciously awarded a $3,500 matching grant from Chosen and Dearly Loved Adoption Fund that is being administered by Lifesong for Orphans.  This has greatly relieved our financial burden and we are so thankful for everyone who has been a part of our adoption story(ies) through giving.

We were able to complete the initial adoption process and bring Bella home on March 9, 2018.  Her siblings, Jayden and Chloe, were so excited to meet her!  Jayden is a proud big brother and introduces her to everyone we meet and Chloe is a very protective big sister and loves holding her and walking her in the stroller.  We are so amazed at how God orchestrated her story and look forward to how He is going to continue to work in our lives as we parent our gifts from Him!
