Dear Family and Friends,
Some of you know we have been completing the steps to adopt a child into our family, and we believe God is leading us on this journey. We are adopting an infant girl from somewhere in the United States and will be matched with a specific child, prayerfully, soon. We don’t yet know who she is, but God does! When she is born, we will travel to the state where the birth mom delivers to bring the baby home. As a family, we’ve been excitedly praying for our agency, birth mom, and child.
Starting in early 2019, we worked through completion of all the training, certification, background checks, referrals, home study, and paperwork. We have now been fully approved to adopt and are waiting for a match.
We’ve had adoption on our hearts since before we were married, and the desire to adopt has stayed with us through the births of our three sons. We see adoption as a loving, miraculous part of our family’s story… we believe it’s a beautiful reflection of what God has done for us, adopting us into His family. There are over 147 million children needing homes worldwide, and it is estimated that less than 10 percent of these children are adopted into evangelical Christian families; yet God desires for children of all backgrounds and circumstances to be loved, cared for, and raised to know Him—so they can become saved and adopted into His eternal family.
The biggest challenge is not opening our hearts and home to a child—a daughter for us, a little sister for our boys—but finding the finances to make this happen. Tim has been taking on extra work for over a year, and the whole family has been saving and fundraising, but we still have a long ways to go—the estimated total cost for the adoption will range from $27,000 to $54,000 depending on the state. Although these amounts are intimidatingly high, we know God is faithful and is leading us to trust Him. Your friendship and love are cherished, and we would appreciate your prayers most of all. If you are able to support this adoption financially and wish to donate toward it, we would also be grateful for any amount of gift.
Please pray God would have His hand on every part of this adoption; that God would tenderly care for the birth parents and baby; that God would prepare us and our sons for the upcoming changes to our family; and that God will give us wisdom, discernment, and peace each step of the way.
We have set a fundraising goal of $20,000 to help bridge the gap in finances. Lifesong for Orphans, with its partner Karis Adoption Fund, has committed an Adoption Matching Grant to match the first $4,000 raised to help pay our adoption expenses. All donations are fully tax-deductible, and any amount is a blessing. Our goal date is March 1, 2020, but funds will be accepted towards our adoption until the child is in our home and/or the adoption is complete.
Thank you for your friendship, love, and support, and please pray this entire process will glorify God and fulfill His purposes. We appreciate you so much!
God bless you,
Tim and Kristi Boswell
