We have big news to share.

Dear friends and family,
Josh and I are adopting a baby!

We have been pooling all our time, money, and resources into our infertility battles for the last seven years with the answer that we will not be able to have biological children without medical intervention. Of course, God can change that and grant us biological children if He chooses, but for now He has has moved us on to adoption!
Josh and I have always had a heart for adoption even before we met and married. We just assumed our family would grow by birth first and adoption second. We are SO excited for the chapter of becoming parents to finally begin! This leap of faith is not without its scary side though; adoption can cost upwards of 40,000! A sad fact, but there it is. Josh and I certainly do not have 40,000 sitting in our bank, but God is good and we trust that He will provide. However, that is a HUGE number. We are being careful with our expenses, and Josh is working as much overtime as he can to raise the money. Birth mothers are officially reviewing our profile right now, so we can be matched any day now. When we are matched, then we will have to come up with $20,000 within three business days, and the rest of the money by the time the baby is born.

We are specifically asking for a few things. First and foremost, we are asking for your prayers. Prayer is so powerful and we know that God hears all of the prayers. Not only prayer for us, but prayer for the birth mother and father, the baby and the rest of the pregnancy for the birth mother.

Second, we are asking you for your financial support if you have the resources to bless us. We know that not everyone has extra money they can give us for the adoption and that is okay! Your prayers are most important to us.

We are also raising money with Lifesong for Orphans we have a matching grant up to $2000.00 so for every dollar that is donated up to $2000.00 will be doubled. There are a couple of ways you can donate to our adoption.

If you prefer to give via check, you can make donations payable to Lifesong for Orphans. In the memo, note gift preference with "Kaiser 7597"

We know that GOD is big and He has placed the desire in our hearts to adopt and He will provide financially for us. We hope that by inviting you into this process, you will see yourself as part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up. We hope you have a great day and we thank you so much for your prayers and support.

Introducing…also a financial update!

August 12, 2019

Introducing baby Josephine, born June 22, 2019! Thank you for everyone who has prayed over us, given money, clothes, gifts or their time to make this adoption happen. I may forget a thank you card but each gift is felt deeply from the bottom of our hearts!

——-

Now for the financial update I’ve been putting off because I hate this part. 2-3 months ago before Jo was born we decided to stop presenting to adoption cases that were 30, 40, 50 thousand. Josh took a pay cut (overtime was cut) and no bank would have ever given us the loan needed to move forward with those adoptions, but as well we felt convicted that since debt is a sin we needed to not incur a crippling debt that might take years to pay off. We had two opportunities that were MUCH cheaper to prosue, we were already going forward with them but they are both small agencies so the wheels turn slowly. So we had NO irons in the fire as we had submitted everything we could to both places and were waiting to hear back about the next steps. So fast forward a couple of a months a friend of a friend messaged Josh about a homeless expectant mom who was looking for a family to adopt her baby. We threw our hats in the ring and the rest was history. 💕 We went through an adoption lawyer so we had no agency fees, etc. We were not home for 6 weeks, we had birth mom expenses (pre and 8 weeks post partum), food for us, hotels/extended stays, lawyer costs. To show you where everything went I will show you a really rough price breakdown:

-Lawyer = $8000

-Adoption Consultants = $4000

-Midwife = $4000

Home Study + Update = $2500

Post-Placement visits = $1500

Loss of Income = $2500

Boarding = (us and her) = $4000

Gas = $400

8wks Expenses Post Partum = $2700

Misc Birth mother expenses = $200

Food, us and birth mother = $1500

Expenses here don’t include items we bought before Jo was born for her. (I.e. crib, clothes, diapers, diaper bag, rocker, swing, etc.) We didn’t go crazy but we needed some stuff! 😉

All totaling (I probably missed a lot in this thought estimate) around $31,000! We did have some money raised but it didn’t stop a lot being added to credit cards and we still have the original loan we took out against one of our cars. Some of these expenses have yet to come out (some gas, hotel going back up there, a last payment to the lawyer and the post placement visits haven’t been completed as we finalize in december ) but they have already been included in the expenses list above. But most of it has been spent. It was VERY VERY clear this adoption was God-lead so we know the money will be raised to pay for it and leave it in God’s hands but we still have to do our part and say the need. ❤️ Thank you all for taking the time to read this, we love you all!
