Adopting a child has always been a hope and desire of our hearts. Even when we were dating, we discussed the possibility. We are thrilled to watch this dream unfold as we have started the process.
Megan spent a summer in China in 2007 teaching English to high schoolers through the Christian university we both attended. At some point after her return from China she started following on Facebook several orphanages in China. Her heart was drawn to the children featured on these pages. She approached Dustin in fall 2017 and asked him to think about it. Since Dustin’s sister was brought into his family through adoption, this was an easy decision for him. In fact, he had already started to wonder if they should pursue adoption for their second child!
But the deeper reasons we decided to adopt are beyond that of circumstances. Those reasons are biblical. We both believe that adoption is just one of the ways God uses to grow a family. Even more so, it is a picture of how God has adopted us into his family through Jesus Christ. We are confident that He who has placed the desire for adoption in our hearts will help us throughout the process.
We are pursuing a 1-2 year old boy from an ophanage in China. As is the case with most China adoptions, he will have some special medical needs. Our dossier is in China, and we eagerly await being matched with a boy.
Dustin is the pastor of a small church in West Chester, Ohio, and Megan works part-time as a professional musician. We are thrilled that the Lord has called us to adopt and hope our adoption will create a ripple effect in our community to care for orphans everywhere!
We estimate the total cost of the adoption fees and expenses to be about $33,000. We are seeking to raise approximately $20,000 for the remaining amount.
Also, thanks to the generosity of Grace Church Alexandria (VA), which sadly closed its doors recently, we have been awarded a $2,500 matching grant! This grant comes from from GCA’s adoption fund and is administered by Lifesong for Orphans.
Please help us raise money for our next son!
