Baby Brother or Baby Sister Elliott!

Joey & Katie Elliott
Joey & Katie Elliott Fishers, Indiana

We are adopting again! We’ve been talking about and praying with Naomi since the summer of 2020 for a baby brother or baby sister. It has been an exciting time as we’ve been preparing our home and hearts for another child. While we are excited for our family to grow, we are also sorrowful and prayerful for our next child’s birth family. Our joy will without a doubt be their sadness. We would love it if you would join us in praying for our growing family and the duality of joy and sorrow that adoption brings.

God has made it clear to us again that His plan, which is higher and greater than ours, is to grow our family again through adoption. The funding of another adoption seems daunting but we are trusting that He will provide all that we need.

We have been generously granted a $3500 matching grant from Beck’s Hybrids, Scott and Shantel Beck are local to Indiana and have a heart for adoption. We are so grateful for their partnership in our adoption journey and in our shared passion for adoption.

We also have a received a matching grant from our church, Pennington Park Church. Then, unexpectedly, two of our dear friends surprised us with an additional matching donation to take us to a total of $10,000 in matching grant money!  This means that if we receive $10,000 in donations, we will receive another $10,000 from these 3 groups/people who also support adoption! God has cheered our hearts as we have received news of these various ways God is lifting the financial burden from us.

Thank you for praying with our family and if you feel led to support our adoption financially, thank you also!

Failed Match Update

September 12, 2022

We had been matched with a expectant mom since June of 2022, she was due late August. We were able to text and get to know this expectant mom and make a plan for when her baby was coming.

Her communication with us started to trail off at the end of August and neither we nor the adoption attorneys have heard from her since then. We are disapointed but going back active again, trusting God to build our family!

Thank you for continuing to pray with us!

Love, Joey, Katie, and Naomi

Failed Adoption Update (2022)

January 19, 2022

In mid-December of 2021 we became aware of an adoption situation in Cincinnati, the baby was due very soon. There were a lot of beautiful aspects to this situation that would be too much to share in this update.

We arrived at the hospital and the baby was born early the next morning. Shortly after holding the baby, his mom let us know she was choosing to parent. Heartbroken and confused, we made the grueling decision to leave the hospital. From that dark day in the hospital until now, God has met us every step of the way. When we didn’t know how to move forward God gave us instruction and empowered us minute by minute. He never allowed bitterness to take root. He has truly been an ever-present help in great darkness (Psalm 46). We were reminded in our grief that God is the God who sees (Genesis 16) – he sees us, he sees this mom and her baby, he sees everyone who was involved in this situation, and he even sees our little ones who are not yet.

While we cannot imagine starting the process again knowing this risk is present in every adoption situation; we know God will be with us and has grace for us in the time of need. We are grieving that God still hasn’t grown our family in these last 15 months, we are grieving the loss of this baby in our family, we are grieving that this is the path God has for our family and our little ones’ families. We know joy will come, we know he is with us, we trust that his plans for us are good. But right now, we are grieving.

We are grateful for sweet time with Naomi and as a family of three in the days following this loss and disappointment, and the words of Psalm 13 remind us of God’s goodness all the time: “I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me.”

We are so thankful for you all who have given generously toward our next adoption and prayed for us along the way. We hoped that this update could provide more specific context to aid your prayers and support as we continue the journey God has for us.

Love, Joey, Katie, and Naomi
