Throughout the years of painful and difficult infertility, we prayed for God to clearly guide our next steps and make it abundantly obvious what He was leading us to do for our pathway to becoming parents. We had no doubt that God was calling us to be parents – it now became a matter of being obedient to how He was going to make that happen and in His timing.
Surprisingly enough, after many appointments and tests, our doctors and specialist’s words of “Natural conception is not going to happen for you two” were an answer to those prayers. And then, for the first time in two years of infertility, after another month came and passed with no pregnancy, there was this deep peace. There was no devastation this time – only hope.
It was peace that God had answered our prayers and clearly guided our next steps through these direct and undoubtedly clear words. We knew God was leading us to pursue infant domestic adoption! Through trusting Him and letting Him lead our lives, our future is different than we thought it would look! What we previously thought possible was now the impossible (natural conception) and what we previously thought impossible (affording the legal costs of infant adoption) is now the possible!
And so here we are. We have completed our homestudy and are an approved and waiting family through our adoption agency. It has been a lot of laboring, a lot of learning and growing, a lot of waiting, and a lot of uncertainty. But God knows all the answers, and we trust Him to lead each step of the way. He already knows who our child will be even. That’s incredible to think about.
Something God has been teaching us is that He is a good shepherd, and He provides all we need (Psalm 23:1). He allowed us to struggle with infertility so we could see that His plan all along was for our family to adopt. Our story is one of God’s sovereignty in suffering on display!
We are so grateful for your prayers, and financial support to help bring our child home. We trust God to provide each step, and are just so excited to be able to one day share the story to our child of how God made a way for them to come home.
