Ashby Adoption Journey

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and share in our journey of adopting of our sweet Annaleigh Jane. This has been such a humbling experience that has taught us so much about the love of God and His timing.

After a few months of being on the waiting list with our adoption agency we were matched with a precious 2 week old baby girl in August of 2018. We immediately flew to California to meet our precious girl. It was love at first sight.

The adoption is taking a bit longer than we expected and we are still waiting to finalize and make our sweet girl an official Ashby. Due to Miss Annaleigh’s medical needs, we are waiting to hear if she qualifies for certain benefits offered by the state to children who have been adopted and are considered special needs. When we first heard about our sweet girl, we knew fetal alcohol spectrum disorder was a possibility. However, through the course of visiting several doctors and specialists, we have learned our girl is a puzzle, and most likely has more going on than FASD. We are waiting to have certain testing done to hopefully see exactly what is going on with our girl. Because of her needs, we want to make sure Annaleigh receives all the services possible. Therefore, we can not finalize the adoption until all of the pieces of the puzzle are figured out.

While we continue to wait on finalization, we continue to accept donations and are pursuing other fundraising options. We are getting closer and closer to reaching our goal, but still have more to go. If you could help us at all, we would be forever grateful. We are incredibly thankful to those who have already contributed to the adoption of our girl.
